Runway Ads Explained (2026): Access, Pricing and Runway Agent

Runway Ads is Runway's new system for performance marketing. It generates video and image ads, publishes the variants you approve to Meta, Google and TikTok, reads the results back from those platforms, and uses what earned spend to make the next round. Runway announced it on September 30, 2026. The short version for most readers: you probably can't use it yet. It's in a pilot with select enterprise partners, there's no self-serve sign-up, and Runway hasn't published a price.

This guide sticks to what Runway's own announcement, product page and pricing page say, labels press reports as reports, and lists what's still unknown. If you need something you can use this week, the companion post covers Runway Ads alternatives for small teams and agencies.

What Runway Ads does

Runway describes it as an autonomous engine for performance marketing. Its inputs are your brand guidelines, your past ads and your product imagery. From those, it runs a loop of four steps, as laid out on the product page:

  1. Generate. It makes video and image variants from your brand kit, product images and past winning ads. Each variant is tagged by hook, audience, format and call to action (CTA), so results can be read along those lines later.
  2. Approve. Every variant goes through an automated brand check, then lands in an approval queue. Human approval is on by default.
  3. Publish. Approved variants go out to the ad platforms you've connected.
  4. Learn. Performance data comes back from those platforms and feeds the next round of generation.

The last step is the point. A video generator hands you files. This system is meant to see which variants earned spend and make more along those lines.

The controls Runway describes

For a tool that touches live ad accounts, the guardrails matter as much as the generator. Runway lists these:

  • Human approval by default. Every variant runs through the automated brand check before it reaches your approval queue. Teams can switch to automated publishing by campaign or variant type. Runway doesn't spell out what gates an ad once that is on, so ask during early access.
  • Spend limits. You set how spend can shift between variants (a maximum daily change, a minimum share of net-new audience, and retargeting caps), and Runway Ads stays inside them.
  • Sizing and localization. It resizes for aspect ratios and each channel's specs. It localizes on-screen text and product screenshots alongside the voiceover, following rules your team sets for brand voice and terms you don't want translated.

Who can get it today

Runway says it is piloting Runway Ads with select enterprise partners. There is no self-serve access. You fill in a form to request early access, and Runway's Enterprise Sales team follows up.

The product page names direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands, ecommerce, mobile apps and agencies as the intended users. It also says the pilot runs "ahead of a wider rollout", but gives no date. Press coverage (Superpower Daily) reports wider access "in the coming weeks", which Runway's own announcement doesn't state, so treat that timing as reported, not promised. Adweek reports that the AI development platform Lovable is the launch partner.

What it connects to

Runway names Meta, Google and TikTok as the platforms Ads publishes to and reads results from. Adweek reports the same three, and adds that Runway Ads runs inside Runway's web app and can recreate existing ads, make variations of them and localize them.

One detail to check if it matters to you: the Ads pages say "Google", while Runway's Agent pages name YouTube. The pages don't spell out whether publishing to Google includes YouTube placements, so ask during the early-access conversation.

How Runway Ads relates to Runway Agent

Runway says Ads builds on its work with Runway Agent. The two are easy to blur, because Runway markets Agent heavily for ad work. Here's the timeline:

  • Runway Agent (May 13, 2026) is a chat-based creative partner that goes from an idea to a finished, ready-to-publish video, including scenes, voiceover, dialogue and music.
  • Agent 2.0 (June 25, 2026) added marketing features. You upload your creative plus ad metrics from Meta, YouTube, TikTok or Google, and Agent analyzes them. It also cuts 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1 versions automatically and localizes copy and visuals. Runway says it's available to all users; on the pricing page, Agent is listed on the paid plans, not Free. In the same post, Runway said it wants Agent to connect directly to the platforms where your marketing lives, which reads like the groundwork for Ads.
  • Runway Ads (September 30, 2026) is that connection: attached to the ad accounts, publishing approved variants, reading performance back automatically and managing spend inside your limits.

The practical difference: with Agent, you are the connection. You export numbers from your ads manager, upload them, read Agent's analysis, take the new assets and put them into your ad account yourself. With Ads, the system holds the connection and you keep the approval step. Agent is self-serve; Ads is an enterprise pilot.

Agent's product page also says it picks a model for each task automatically, naming Gen-4.5, Aleph 2.0, Seedance 2.5, Nano Banana Pro and Kling 3.0 Pro, among others. Runway hasn't said which models Runway Ads uses.

Runway Agent Runway Ads
Access Self-serve on Standard, Pro and Max plans Enterprise pilot; request early access
Price Included in those plans; no separate Agent fee listed Not published
Ad results You upload metrics from Meta, YouTube, TikTok or Google Read back from connected accounts automatically
Publishing Not described on Agent's pages Publishes approved variants to Meta, Google and TikTok
Budget Not described on Agent's pages Shifts spend between variants within your limits
Approval You decide what to use Brand check, then human approval (on by default)

How Runway's credit pricing fits in

Runway Ads has no public price. The pricing page doesn't mention Ads at all, and neither the announcement nor the product page lists a price, credit costs or model names. Whether Ads will draw on plan credits, sit on a separate enterprise contract, or both, is not published.

What is public is how Runway prices Agent. Agent is listed on the paid individual plans from Standard ($15 a month, or $12 billed yearly) upward, with no separate Agent fee; the Free plan doesn't include it. The Team plan (from $69 per seat a month) adds Agent Connectors and shared agent skills. Video generation is paid in credits: Gen-4.5, for example, costs 60 credits per 5 seconds, so Standard's 625 monthly credits cover roughly 50 seconds of it. We couldn't confirm from Runway's pages how many credits an Agent conversation itself uses.

Runway's results, and how to read them

Runway reports results from the in-house system Ads is built on, used on its own marketing (mainly Meta and TikTok) since July: weekly ad volume went from 77 to roughly 900, return on ad spend (ROAS) doubled, conversion rose about 34% with click-through rate flat, and cost per subscriber fell 41%. The product page also claims $100M+ in additional annual recurring revenue it attributes to its performance marketing.

These are Runway's own campaigns, not customer results. Runtimewire notes that Runway didn't disclose absolute spend, subscriber counts, campaign mix or methodology. That doesn't make the numbers wrong. It means you can't yet tell how they'd carry over to a DTC brand with a small catalog or an agency running ten client accounts. When you judge creative on results, judge it on margin rather than ROAS alone (why ROAS mis-ranks creative).

What Runway hasn't published yet

  • Price, credit costs and contract terms for Runway Ads.
  • Which models Runway Ads uses.
  • A general-availability date (the product page says "ahead of a wider rollout" without a date; press reports "the coming weeks").
  • Whether Ads will reach the self-serve plans or stay enterprise-only.
  • What gates an ad once automated publishing is switched on.
  • Whether "Google" includes YouTube placements.
  • Any independent or customer-reported results.

If you request access, that list makes a good first set of questions, along with how data from your ad accounts is handled.

Should you wait for it?

  • If you're an enterprise brand or agency that wants generation, approval, publishing and budget shifting in one system, and a pilot is fine, request early access.
  • If you want Runway today, use Runway Agent on a paid plan and move metrics and files between it and your ads manager by hand.
  • If you already have an ad that's winning and need new versions of it this week (a new face, a new product, a new language, a new placement), you don't need the full loop for that. Riffkit is built for that one job: it remakes a winning video with your changes in brand-new footage. It doesn't connect to ad accounts, publish or read results, so you still run the ads yourself. The options are laid out in Runway Ads alternatives, or you can try Riffkit free.

FAQ

What is Runway Ads?

Runway Ads is a performance-marketing system Runway announced on September 30, 2026. Using brand guidelines, past ads and product imagery as inputs, it generates video and image ad variants, runs them through an automated brand check and human approval, publishes approved variants to Meta, Google and TikTok, reads performance back from those platforms and uses it to generate the next round.

Can I sign up for Runway Ads?

Not as a self-serve product. Runway says it is piloting Runway Ads with select enterprise partners; you request early access through a form on its product page and Runway's Enterprise Sales team follows up. The product page says the pilot runs ahead of a wider rollout but gives no date, and press (Superpower Daily) reports wider access in the coming weeks.

How much does Runway Ads cost?

Runway has not published a price for Runway Ads. Neither the announcement nor the product page lists a price, credit costs or model names, and Runway's pricing page does not mention Ads. For comparison, Runway's paid individual plans run from Standard at $15 a month ($12 billed yearly) to Max at $95 a month ($76 billed yearly).

Which ad platforms does Runway Ads connect to?

Runway names Meta, Google and TikTok as the platforms Runway Ads publishes approved variants to and reads performance from. Runway's Ads pages say Google without specifying whether that includes YouTube placements, so confirm it with Runway if it matters to you.

What is the difference between Runway Ads and Runway Agent?

Runway Agent is self-serve and included on Runway's Standard, Pro and Max plans (the Team plan adds Agent Connectors and shared agent skills): you chat to make videos, and you upload ad metrics from Meta, YouTube, TikTok or Google for it to analyze. Runway Ads, which Runway says builds on Agent, connects to the ad accounts, publishes approved variants, reads results back automatically and shifts spend within your limits. Ads is an enterprise pilot.

Does Runway Ads publish ads without approval?

Not by default. Every variant goes through an automated brand check before it reaches a human approval queue, and human approval is on by default. Teams can switch to automated publishing by campaign or variant type; Runway does not spell out what gates an ad once that is on, so it is worth asking during early access.

Do Runway Ads results come from real customers?

No. The figures Runway shares (weekly ad volume from 77 to roughly 900, return on ad spend doubled, conversion up about 34% with click-through rate flat, cost per subscriber down 41%) come from Runway's own marketing since July, run on the in-house system Ads is built on, not from customers. Runtimewire notes Runway did not disclose absolute spend, subscriber counts, campaign mix or methodology.
