Before you ask
What you need to replace the person.
- A character. Set up the person once in the Riffkit app, with a picture. A character cannot be made from the chat. After that, ask for it by name.
- A picture that works. One person, facing the camera, the face large in the frame, on a plain background. A collage or a card with several poses usually fails to change the face in a close-up. The picture is reviewed before the character can be used.
- A source video. Start from a template from the library or the link to one TikTok video.
What comes back
The video, and where it is.
Riffkit makes one video for each character you name. A character has a picture for Riffkit to work from in every shot. A person described only in words has none, and the face can differ between shots.
Your assistant tells you when the video is done and which one it is, and gives you a suggested caption and hashtags. Your assistant gives you a link that opens the video in your browser. The link works for 6 hours, for anyone who has it, and you can ask for a new one at any time. The file is not attached to the chat. The video is also in your Riffkit library, where you can download it.
Limits
What a person swap will not change.
- Not from a file on your computer. A chat assistant cannot send Riffkit a file. For a video file, use the Riffkit app.
- A swap must change something. Name a character, a product with a picture, or one detail. If nothing would change, or a character is all you name and the source shows no person, the request is refused and no credits are used.
- A swap is never shortened. The source video cannot be too long. A longer one is refused before anything starts, and your assistant can tell you the limit.
- The original decides the rest. The language, the music and the aspect ratio stay as they are.
Credits
What it uses in credits.
A swap is counted for every second of video, at a higher rate than a new story on the same engine. Each character is its own video. Seconds are counted whole, so the count can be slightly above the length of the source.

How is this different from a face swap?
A face swap puts a new face on footage that already exists. A Riffkit swap renders the video again: the shots, framing and timing follow the original, and your character is the person in it, on some engines with a new voice. It is a new render, so watch the result before you post it.
What do I need: a picture of the character and a video?
A character set up in the Riffkit app, which is where its picture is added, and one source: a template or a TikTok link. Name no character and the original person stays.
Does it keep the original motion, timing and voice?
The shots, framing and timing follow the original, and so do the language and the music. The voice can change. On Seedance 2.5 and MiniMax H3 the new person says their on-camera lines in a new voice, and narration keeps the original voice. Ask to keep the original audio and every voice stays.
Can I do this inside Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes. Add Riffkit to Claude or ChatGPT once, sign in with your Riffkit account, and ask in plain words. ChatGPT takes developer mode, which not every account has. Coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor use the Riffkit agent skill instead.
