How to Make Videos in ChatGPT and Claude with the Riffkit Connector
You can now ask for a short video from inside ChatGPT or Claude. Riffkit connects to both through one address, https://mcp.riffkit.ai/mcp. Add it once, sign in with your Riffkit account, and ask in plain words: "remake this TikTok for my product". The finished video is in your Riffkit library. The short version is on the Riffkit page for Claude and ChatGPT.
What the assistant does alone, and what the connector adds
Neither assistant renders video by itself. Ask for one and you get words: a script, a shot list, sometimes code. For Claude, the answer is in Can Claude make videos?. ChatGPT writes and plans the same way, and OpenAI closed its Sora video service this year. A connector gives the assistant a tool to call. With Riffkit connected, it can read your products, characters and templates, get a price, start a render, and tell you which video in your library is the finished one.
Set it up in Claude
- Open Customize, then Connectors.
- Click Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Riffkit, paste
https://mcp.riffkit.ai/mcp, and follow the box through to Add. Where it asks about signing in, keep a sign-in choice, not "No sign in". - Claude sends you to riffkit.ai, right away or the first time you use Riffkit. Sign in and approve.
A link on the Riffkit page takes you to that screen. Anthropic's help page, checked on October 4, 2026, lists custom connectors on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with Free limited to one. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it in Organization settings first.
Set it up in ChatGPT
ChatGPT takes the same address. It is added by address, not picked from a directory, and today that goes through developer mode. The steps in OpenAI's developer docs, checked on October 4, 2026:
- Open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
- Go to the ChatGPT Plugins page and select the plus button.
- Give it a name, paste
https://mcp.riffkit.ai/mcp, and create the connection. - Sign in to Riffkit when ChatGPT sends you over, and approve.
Developer mode is not on every account and can depend on workspace policy, so look for it in your own settings. Menus move: if your account lets you add a connector by address, the address is all you need.
Neither setup uses an API key. You sign in on riffkit.ai, see what the assistant will be able to do, and approve. To end the connection, choose "Sign out other devices" in Riffkit's Settings, which also signs out your other browsers. A connection ends by itself after 90 days.
If you work in a coding agent
Claude Code, Codex and Cursor use the Riffkit skill instead. It is one line pasted into the agent, and it can do two things a chat cannot: start from a video file on your computer, and give you a download link. See Claude Code video skill.
Five things to ask for
Paste any of these and fill in the brackets.
1. Replace the person
Swap keeps a video's shots, framing, timing and sound, and changes who is in it.
Swap my character [character name] into this TikTok and keep every shot as it is. Show me the price first. [TikTok link]
More: replace the person in a video. If you sell on TikTok Shop and the video belongs to another creator, use number 4 instead, for this reason.
2. Replace the product
The same swap, with your product in a video that already works. The product needs at least one picture. You can add the product in the chat from a name, a description and public image links. A photo on your computer has to be added in the Riffkit app.
Use the template [template name] and put my product [product name] in it. Keep everything else the same. Tell me what it uses in credits before you start.
More: replace the product in a video.
3. Remake a winning TikTok, and pick how
Swap keeps the shots. Adapt keeps the formula (hook, pacing, beats) and tells a new story with new footage. Your assistant can price both from one link.
Here is a TikTok that did well: [TikTok link]. Quote it both ways: keeping its shots with my character [character name] in it, and as a new story for my product [product name]. Don't start until I pick.
Remake a TikTok video helps you choose.
4. Turn a winning TikTok into an ad for your product
This is Adapt. You can pick the language, from nine, and the aspect ratios.
Remake this TikTok as a video for my product [product name], with my character [character name]. Show me the price before you start. [TikTok link]
More: TikTok to product ad.
5. Start from one written idea
Create needs no source video. Describe the scene and say how long, from 4 to 45 seconds.
Create a 10-second video with my product [product name]: [the scene in one or two sentences].
The price comes first here too. State the length and the price is exact. Leave it out and the length follows the idea, up to what your balance covers, and the price shown is the most it can use. More: video ad from a prompt.
For the first four, the price is exact from a template and an estimate from a new link.
After the video is done
Two follow-ups work in the same chat, both on the Riffkit page.
More aspect ratios. Each added ratio is a new render of the whole video, with the same shots, sound and captions. The choices are vertical (9:16, 3:4, 1:1, 4:5), and a horizontal video cannot get more.
Make 1:1 and 4:5 versions of my latest finished video. Tell me what each one uses in credits first.
Caption fixes. Editing captions uses no credits. It works on the captions Riffkit put on the video, not on text that is part of the picture, so a Swap video often has nothing to edit.
Show me the captions on my latest video. Then change "recieve" to "receive" and render the new version.
The limits you will hit
- No file from your computer. Start from a TikTok link or a template, and give product pictures as public image links. For a video file or a photo on your computer, use the Riffkit app or the skill.
- The link has to be one TikTok video. A profile page or a link from another platform is refused.
- Characters are set up in the Riffkit app. Create the person there once, then ask for them by name.
- The video file is not attached to the chat. Your assistant gives you a link that opens it in your browser. The link works for 6 hours, for anyone who has it, and you can ask for a new one at any time. The video is also in your Riffkit library, where you can download it, and your assistant gives you the suggested caption and hashtags.
- A swap has to change something. Name a character, a product with a picture, or one detail. Otherwise the job is refused and no credits are used.
- Long sources are refused. A TikTok longer than Riffkit accepts is refused and no video is made, for a swap and for a new-story remake alike. A swap is never shortened.
What it costs
Nothing extra. A video made through an assistant uses the same account, the same credits and the same per-second rates as one made in the Riffkit app. A 9-second video uses 9 seconds' worth. Swap and added ratios have a higher per-second rate than Adapt and Create at the same video model and resolution, because each of those renders works from an existing video. The rates are on the pricing page. Plans and payment stay in the Riffkit app, so your assistant will not show them.
Other video tools that work in an assistant
Riffkit is one of several. Higgsfield has a connector too, with a wide choice of models for building a shot from a description and a preset named Ad Recreator. Its setup is in How to use Higgsfield in Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT. Riffkit's job is narrower: short videos, most often starting from one that already won.

FAQ
Can ChatGPT make videos?
Not by itself. ChatGPT writes scripts, shot lists and prompts, and OpenAI closed its Sora video service in 2026. What it can do is call an outside video service through a connector. With the Riffkit connector added (the address is https://mcp.riffkit.ai/mcp), you ask in plain words and ChatGPT has Riffkit render a short video: a remake of a winning TikTok, a swap of the person or product in a video, or an original video from a written idea. The finished video is in your Riffkit library.
How do I make a video in ChatGPT with Riffkit?
Add Riffkit to ChatGPT by its address, https://mcp.riffkit.ai/mcp. As of October 4, 2026, OpenAI's developer docs describe it this way: turn on Developer mode under Settings, Security and login, then open the ChatGPT Plugins page, select the plus button, name the connection and paste the address. Sign in to your Riffkit account when ChatGPT sends you to riffkit.ai, and approve. Then ask for a video in plain words, for example: Remake this TikTok as a video for my product, and show me the price before you start.
How do I add Riffkit to Claude?
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, click Add, then Add custom connector, name it Riffkit, paste https://mcp.riffkit.ai/mcp and follow the box through to Add. Where it asks about signing in, keep a sign-in choice, not 'No sign in'. Claude sends you to riffkit.ai, right away or the first time you use Riffkit, to sign in and approve. There is no API key. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds the connector in Organization settings first, then each member connects it. Coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor use the Riffkit skill at riffkit.ai/skill instead.
Which ChatGPT and Claude plans can add a connector by address?
As checked on October 4, 2026: Anthropic's help page lists custom connectors for Claude on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with Free limited to one custom connector. In ChatGPT a connector is added by address through developer mode, found in Settings under Security and login. Not every account or workspace has it, and OpenAI changes which ones do. Both companies change these rules, so check their help pages if the option is missing in your account.
Do I need a Riffkit account to make videos in ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. The connector works on your Riffkit account: you sign in on riffkit.ai, see what the assistant will be able to do, and approve. Videos use the credits in that account, at the same per-second rates as the Riffkit app. Signing up is free and needs no credit card. Characters are also set up in the Riffkit app before you ask for them by name in a chat.
Riffkit connector or Riffkit skill: which one do I use?
Use the connector in a chat assistant (Claude or ChatGPT): you add one address and nothing is installed. Use the skill in a coding agent on your own computer (Claude Code, Codex or Cursor). Both run on the same account, the same credits and the same per-second rates, and both can adapt, swap and create videos, add aspect ratios and edit captions. The skill can also start from a video file on your computer. Through the connector you start from a TikTok link or a template, and your assistant gives you a link that opens the finished video; it is also in your Riffkit library.
Can I upload my own video to ChatGPT or Claude and have Riffkit remake it?
Not through a chat assistant. With the Riffkit connector you start from a TikTok link to one video or a template. A file on your computer cannot be passed through the assistant. To start from your own file, upload it in the Riffkit app, or use the Riffkit skill in a coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor.
Does a video made through ChatGPT or Claude cost more than one made in the Riffkit app?
No. It uses the same wallet and the same per-second rates as the app, counted for the seconds of video rendered. A swap or an added aspect ratio has a higher per-second rate than an adapted or created video at the same video model and resolution, in the assistant and in the app alike. The assistant is set up to show the price in credits before anything starts: a remake, an added ratio or a video made from a written idea. For a written idea, state the length you want and the price is exact; leave it out and you see the most it can use.
